GILLIAMHITCHCOCKMARKER

Parallel Universes: 1+1+1=1.

GILLIAMHITCHCOCKMARKER combines the 'redwood' sequences from Terry Gilliam's 12 Monkeys, Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo and Chris Marker's La Jetee. The three sequences are of different lengths but each sequence is otherwise unaltered. A sync point is chosen and the existing scenes determine in and out points for each clip. In this instance the sync point was the fingers pointing at the rings of the trees. The films speak back and forth to each other. The films remain the same but we see different things. No longer is there a simple homage or reference instead there is a call and response. Does Scottie speak to both Madeleine and Madeleine Stowe?
